Rosamund Morley
Rosamund Morley performs on the viola da gamba – from pardessus to violone, and their medieval ancestors – with renowned ensembles as diverse as ARTEK, The Boston Camerata, The Crossing, The Folger Consort, The Four Nations Ensemble, Piffaro and the Yale Schola Cantorum under Masaaki Suzuki In addition to being a member of Parthenia, she has played Vivaldi with the Venice Baroque Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, Charpentier at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with Les Arts Florissants, Dowland with Paul O’Dette at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and thirteenth century motets on tour in Europe with Sequentia She has appeared at the Boston Early Music Festival as well as at festivals across the USA and in Europe She was fortunate to have seen much of the world in three decades of touring with the Waverly Consort. Born in England, raised in Canada, she studied at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague in the Netherlands after receiving an MA from the University of Toronto where she performed on the historic viols of the Hart House Collection Ros is a sought-after ensemble coach, teaching throughout the USA and Canada, and at workshops in Europe She maintains a studio in Brooklyn, NY, and conducts classes at the Neighborhood Music School in New Haven, CT where she plays with the Elm City Consort and coached the viol consort for the Yale Collegium Musicum She served as the Music Director for the Conclave of the Viola da Gamba Society of America, and for many years directed and now co-directs the Viols West Workshop in San Luis Obispo, CA.
